Cracking Talk on Parks on the Air from Andy 2E0UAW

Parks on the Air LogoWe had a cracking talk from Andy 2E0UAW who is the English administrator for POTA (Parks on the Air).

Parks on the Air, little known in the UK but appears to be taking the USA by storm.

POTA was born from an National Event to activate all the National Parks in the US.

Once that event ended the large number of people involved wanted more and this is where POTA evolved from.

Parks on the Air looks very accessible and there are few rules, you can operate from a motor vehicle making this more accessible to those who like getting outdoors but have restrictive mobility.

First off you will need to register at the main website which is at https://parksontheair.com/

I recommend that you read the help and rule section and then register. they also have a facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/parksontheair/ They are also active on other social media such has twitter. Other things like up coming activation and spots can be found on Slack, once you registered on the POTA Site there is a handy button to connect to slack.

Up coming activation and spots are also on the main website and if you are using CW then you can use the RBN to send out a Spot. Self spotting is allowed I understand.

Detail of the parks in England can be found at https://stats.parksontheair.com/reports/park-info-select.php?entity=England

Shortly there will be an interactive map, which is currently work in progress.

I am very excited about Parks on the Air, and can see it taking off in the UK and elsewhere, whats not to like? plenty for Activator and Hunter!
